Inside The Hodgepodge House
The inside is an artsy hodgepodge, too. 🙂
When we first visited the house, we saw the fireplace, in all its plain whiteness, and said almost simultaneously, “that’s a tree.”
So, Nancy painted a sky on the ceiling, and made a tree in the living room…

We always wanted a secret passageway bookshelf, obviously. We didn’t really have the space for that, so Nancy turned her closet doors into the next best thing:

We got a set of kettles as a present, and the handles were shaped in a way that didn’t allow for easy hanging. Nancy took that as an opportunity to make a space door in the kitchen. The obvious next right step! She welded brackets to hold the lids in place out of old kitchen tools and scrap metal, then painted corresponding planets for easier placement. Pluto will always be a planet to us, and if you look at the very bottom of the door, you will see our little planet with a heart representing.
