Inside The Hodgepodge House
The inside is an artsy hodgepodge, too. 🙂
When we first visited the house, we saw the fireplace, in all its plain whiteness, and said almost simultaneously, “that’s a tree.”
So, I painted a sky on the ceiling, and made a tree in the living room…
…which of course lights up at night:
We always wanted a secret passageway bookshelf, obviously. We didn’t really have the space for that, so I turned my closet doors into the next best thing:

We got a set of kettles as a present, and the handles were shaped in a way that didn’t allow for easy hanging. I took that as an opportunity to make a space door in the kitchen. The obvious next right step!
I welded brackets to hold the lids in place out of old kitchen tools and scrap metal, then painted corresponding planets for easier placement. Pluto will always be a planet to us, and if you look at the very bottom of the door, you will see our little planet with a heart representing.

Space Hallway! The lights are supposed to be the stars, and the wall is painted with metallic blue and glitter:
