Visitors to The Hodgepodge House
You, of course! And…we have had a lot of critter visitors to the house. Recently, this small herd of HodgeHogs has settled in.
As you might know, HodgeHogs are known for their sweet nature…and stillness. 😉 We put a sign up to that effect so people would know they are friendly.
We think the big one might be an adult, and that the smaller ones are youngsters, but we don’t have a lot of data because this is the only herd we’ve ever seen.
This is probably not a big deal to most, but we live in a very urban area in southern Arizona, next to a very high traffic intersection. We’re excited when we see a feral cat, let alone a raccoon! (They are absolutely not native to this area). We caught this one on camera several nights, and named him Darington. He was grooming himself like the camera was a mirror. So dashing!
Speaking of feral cats, we really do get excited. Nancy even made a little cat doorway in the back of the wall so they could come and go easier. We call it the Gato Grotto:
The Gato Grotto is on the inside of the wall in our side yard, accompanied by a mirror, rock, and glass river…which of course lights up at night:
